Your submitted movie doesn’t appear in a group
If you submitted a movie to a group, and it does not appear in the group immediately, then the group is moderated. This means the owner of the group will have to approve the movie before it appears in the group. You can always leave a comment on the group page asking the moderator to approve your submission.
I’m having trouble installing Flash
On Windows, you need to have Admin privileges on your machine to install the Macromedia Flash Player for Internet Explorer. If you’re having trouble working this out, we recommend that you install Firefox. The Flash Player should install easily.
Movies aren’t playing at all (black screen)
If movies aren’t playing, it may be due to a cached file on your computer. To fix this problem, clear the cached browser files:
In Internet Explorer, click Tools, then Internet Options. Click the Delete Files button in the Temporary Internet files section.
In Firefox, click Tools, then Options. Click the Privacy section, then the Cache tab. Click the Clear Cache Now button.

In the section labeled My Image, click Browse and select the image that you want to use. After selecting the image, click Upload and you will now have your own custom profile image.
Some of my Flickr sets don’t show up
If you use HTML in your flickr set names, they will not appear in the list of Flickr sets during import. To correct this, remove the html from your flickr set names, then attempt to import from Flickr again.
Some of my Flickr images weren’t imported
Images with certain tags won’t be imported. Make sure all of the tags on your Flickr images are at least three characters long, and do not contain special characters.
My files take forever to upload
Video files can be pretty large and may take some time to upload, especially over a slow connection. However, make sure you’re not trying to upload something larger than 100MB. If you are, the upload process will appear to keep going, but the upload will not complete. Check your file sizes before you upload. We’re working on a fix for this.
What’s the difference between a movie and a clip?
Good question! On Jumpcut, Clips (aka video clips) are single video files that were uploaded by our users. Movies are what you create using the Jumpcut Editor. They are combinations of individual video clips, photos, music, titles and effects. Movies are analagous to photo slideshows, but you can do a lot more.
The distinction between clips and movies can be confusing to some people because they’re used to video sites that just let you upload individual clips. We think Jumpcut is more exciting because you can use these raw materials to make your own movies.
But, if you want to make a movie out of a single video clip, you can do that too. Just press the green Edit/Remix button on the clip to open it up in the editor and then Publish.
What are popular tags?
Popular tags are the 25 most popular tags on Jumpcut. When you click on a popular tag, we run a search based on the tag you clicked. At this point, you’ll see a list of “Related Tags” on the right side of the page. These are all of the tags related to your search results, so you can drill down to a more specific search.
What’s the Popular Movies list?
Popular Movies shows recently created movies that are popular with the community. The formula that determines popularity is based on a number of factors. One of the factors under your control is the amount of love that a movie has. So, if you see something you like, give it some love…maybe it will end up on the Popular Movies list.
