Yahoo! ID Migration FAQ
Jumpcut is now integrated with Yahoo! Registration, so you’ll need to use a Yahoo! ID to sign in. It’s a painless process and you’ll be able to keep your Jumpcut screen name, as well as bragging rights for being old school.
Basic Questions
==================
What does it all mean?
From now on, you’ll need to use a Yahoo! ID to sign into Jumpcut. This means you’ll need to merge your old Jumpcut username to a Yahoo! ID — you can use an existing Yahoo! account or create a new one.
Why are you switching to Yahoo! IDs?
Many reasons. Maintaining a custom login system is a ton of work. It requires a lot of engineering time focused on problems that Yahoo! has already solved very well (things like COPPA compliance, anti-Phishing, spam-user prevention, etc), as well as support time responding to requests about lost usernames & passwords. We’d much rather focus our efforts on video editing and the core site experience.
This change also makes Jumpcut available to millions of Yahoo! and Flickr users who already have a Yahoo! ID, allowing deeper integration with other Yahoo! properties.
I have more than one Yahoo! ID. Which one should I use?
It’s your choice. If you use Flickr or Upcoming.org, then it’s a great idea to use the same ID for all three.
I’ve forgotten my Yahoo! password!
No worries. To get your Yahoo! account password, a Yahoo! ID reminder, or both, click on the “Forget your ID or password?” link on the SIgn In page and supply some basic verification information.

==================
How do I link my account to a Yahoo ID?
In order to link your account, we’ll prompt you to sign in to Yahoo! with a Yahoo! ID and password first. After signing in, we’ll prompt you to enter your existing Jumpcut.com username and password you’d like to associate with your Yahoo! account. We’ll walk you through the migration from there.
Note: After you link your accounts, you will use your Yahoo! ID to sign into Jumpcut.
What changes when I link my account?
Not much! After you link, instead of using your Jumpcut username, you’ll sign in with a Yahoo! ID and password. Your Jumpcut screenname, email address and profile picture will remain the same.
I’ve forgotten my old-school Jumpcut username/password!
No problem. Sign in with your Yahoo! account, then choose the “I Forget” link on the migration page. If you enter the email address you used signed up to Jumpcut.com, we’ll be able to send you a confirmation email to verify your account.
What if someone is using my Jumpcut username as their Yahoo! ID?
It doesn’t matter. Your Yahoo! ID and Jumpcut screenname are completely separate. If you’d like to create a Yahoo! ID that matches your Jumpcut screenname but find that it’s unavailable, try choosing something else. We won’t change your Jumpcut screenname.
My Jumpcut username is the same as my Yahoo! ID. Could this be bad?
No. But because your Yahoo! ID and Jumpcut username are completely separate entities, you’ll still need to link them.
Can I change my Jumpcut screenname?
Sorry, there is currently no way to change your Jumpcut screenname. There will be in the future.
What if I have two Jumpcut usernames?
They’re two different Jumpcut accounts. Each username will require its own Yahoo! account to sign in to Jumpcut.
Do my Jumpcut notifications change after I link my account with a Yahoo! ID?
No. You will receive notifications to the email address that is saved in your profile prior to linking. We will not come knocking at your Yahoo! account. If you’re interested in changing your primary contact email address, edit the details in your Jumpcut profile.
Can I transfer my Jumpcut account between two Yahoo! IDs?
No, not yet.

It would be nice if Yahoo would free up ID’s that have been dead for years. If anyone from Yahoo! is listening I’d like to obtain an ID that matches my Flickr, Upcoming and Jumpcut IDs - who do I contact?

You explain loud and clear why you are doing it… but the explanation of the how-to is kinda… bad?
It was easier with Flickr…

I’ve had my current YIM for over 8 years, and when I tried to create a new Jumpcut account it failed to make one attached to my old YIM.
But now I can’t sign into my jumpcut account, and I can’t make a new jumpcut account because my current YIM is already bound.
Fuck it all to Hell. I’m gonna use YouTube. Less bullshit.

Really bad!! Signed in w/ yahoo id, was NOT prompted to link to my “old school” jump cut account and cannot find any clear info on how to do so. where is this mysterious migration page??? searched and searched for it. this is causing me a lot of frustration, stress and wasted time for what is now the 3rd time i’ve tried to do this. i see you’ve gotten the same feedback from others. why have you not fixed the problem?? no longer a fan. at all. very poor streamlining. actually, no streamlining at all.
